Episode XX – A New Creation

The galaxy’s most iconic astromech droid, R2-D2, has once again been called into service. This time, with a new mission— to display a critical message in the form of a hologram projection.

Rebuilt from over 1,000 pieces of LEGO, this R2-D2 is more than a model. Equipped with advanced projection technology, it has been engineered to recreate the legendary transmission from Princess Leia, seeking Obi-Wan Kenobi’s aid.

As the Rebel Alliance’s hope is restored, this droid becomes a bridge between the past and the future, seamlessly blending the nostalgia of brick-built creations with modern technology.

Now, witness the power of innovation as R2-D2 comes to life and projects the iconic hologram that began a legendary journey….

Build Process

Starting with the LEGO Polaroid R2-D2 Kit, getting the projector to fit within the droid required completely rebuilding the internal structure using base plates on the top/bottom, changing side fastener. A pop out window on his chest was added for the projector and the back was opened slightly for access to his power port and to provide some some air flow.

Then, it was all about finding the right videos to project through R2.
