What’s better than a replica LEGO Stratocaster? How about one with a Majority Touro Internet Radio embedded inside the amp! I call it the Fender StreamoCaster.
LEGO Fender StreamoCaster
StreamoCaster LEGO created a great Fender Stratocaster kit that I decided to take one step further. Rather than looking like it can rock, it now does with a full speaker and Internet radio embedded in the back!
Build Process
Starting with the LEGO Fender kit, I opted to build the red version of the Fender to have enough extra black bricks to start to build out the back. Next, I found a donor Internet radio kit. Dismantling it completely, I cut the plastic face down to an inch from the display where the speaker used to be mounted. While not pretty, the plan was always to cover it with bricks to give it a cleaner, built-in look. Speaker was screwed into the slot where the LEGO speaker from the kit would have lived, using the attachment points to keep the speaker from pushing against the bricks. Then it was a matter of building around the control panel and using some black velcro command strips to keep it secure.
After fiddling many, many times with the bricks and extending the back a few layers from the original kit, I powered it on and was able to rock some tunes!
